RAA Happenings, November Edition

Our November Happenings begins with a message from our Exec Director Jeff Lyscczyn, who says

Greetings Friends!

“Don’t tell Christmas, but this has become my favorite time of year.”

That’s what I’ve been saying to students as we’ve visited schools to present our arts scholarship certificates. We’ve now wrapped up presentations to 44 students across nine schools—a 340% increase in scholarships in just our second year!

The best part has been seeing the people behind those numbers: talented students, encouraging teachers, proud guardians, and administrators who understand what these opportunities mean. To our RAA board members, the Christy-Houston Foundation, Inc., individual donors, and everyone who helped make this possible: THANK YOU!

We’ve already begun fundraising for next year’s scholarships, and we expect the program to keep growing. If you feel called to help, you can contribute through the donation link on the RAA website: https://www.rutherfordartsalliance.org/donate. You’ll be helping another student say “yes” to the arts.

In October, we partnered once again with our friends at the Discovery Center for some fall fun. At STEAM-A-Palooza, several high school volunteers joined us to help little hands express their big ideas while they decorated lanterns. We returned on October 22nd for more lantern-making, pizza, and entertainment from the Cripple Creek Cloggers before heading onto the boardwalk for our lantern parade. Beautiful weather, wonderful people, and plenty of smiles and laughter - hard to beat that!

If you’re able, we’d love to have you join us for our rescheduled Art of Possibility fundraiser Friday, November 13 th at The Walnut House in Murfreesboro. Tickets and information are available here: https://www.rutherfordartsalliance.org/fundraiser

As we roll toward the Thanksgiving season, it does me good to pause and reflect on how much I have to be grateful for. It’s not always easy to focus on the things that bring us joy and contentment. My wish for you is that moments of peace find their way into your heart and head, and that they inspire you to create something beautiful.

‘Til next month,

Jeff
