RAA Happenings, January Edition

Our January Happenings begins with a message from our Exec Director Jeff Lyscczyn:

Happy New Year!

I hope you had a restful season surrounded by people you love. I know the holidays are hard for some folks. I see you, too.

What does the new year mean to you? Is it the demarcation of a new chapter in your story? Do you use it as a jumping off point for life goals?

For me, it’s like re-priming a canvas to create space for new ideas to be born. It feels like a fresh start at first glance, but there’s always a ghostly pentimento of the past that makes its way back to the surface. I suppose that’s life – layers of works, experiences, memories, constantly settling upon one another. We’re sedimentary creatures.

Watch our website for more information soon!

It’s really evident with musicians. Take the Beatles, for instance. It was only four years from “Please Please Me” to “Strawberry Fields Forever,” but what an evolution! Their later music was expansive, but none of it would have been possible if not for the simplicity of their first works together.

No matter how you choose to approach it, I hope this new year finds you experiencing the arts in a way that fills your cup.

You can begin by attending our inaugural “Curtains Up!” celebration of theatre in Rutherford County on January 31st at Walnut House. Find the details on our website and social media feeds.

See you there!
Jeff
