Dance Arts Day Recognized in Murfreesboro

On Friday evening, September 15, RAA's Dance Interest Group leader, Lee Anne Carmack, and numerous RAA Board members were on hand at the Friday Night Live/Boro Art Crawl event on the downtown Murfreesboro Square to receive a Dance Arts Day Proclamation from Vice Mayor and Councilman Bill Shacklett. Two dance groups, representing MTSU and MPAC, gave short performances in celebration. Choreographers were Catherine Bright (MTSU) and Veronica Brown (MPAC).

The proclamation recognizes dance “as a venerable form of communication and storytelling” able to “transform language, ethnicity, and social barriers”—and encourages Murfreesboro residents to appreciate and participate in dance-related activities.

Thank you to Main Street Murfreesboro/Rutherford, Inc. ,The Boro Art Crawl, Bill Shacklett, and all the artists, musicians, dancers, vendors, and individuals who came out for Friday Night Live and the Boro Art Crawl. It was a great night of community!
