Writing and Reading Things to Do in August--Plus Big News!

It’s my favorite month of the year! If you’re a detailed reader of this blog (which, c’mon, you’ve gotta be, right?), you might remember from last year that I love August because it’s my birthday month and because it’s back-to-school time. This was my first summer break as a mom, and WOW, I’ve never been more excited for school to begin again! Between traveling, sickness, and just the general keeping boredom at bay for my daughters, I feel like I hardly had time for myself! My writing has definitely suffered this summer … But now that school is beginning again, yes, I’ll still be home with my two-year-old, but I will have more opportunities to read and write in the day! So with that, let’s see what we’ve got going on this month, shall we?

And this last event brings me to our big announcement! If you were at Poetry in the Boro in June, you already know about it, but …

We’re putting together an anthology to celebrate the 10th year of PitB next year! We’re still ironing out the details, but if you are part of the PitB family, get some poems together that you might like to submit and see in print! Stay tuned to the Poetry in the Boro socials and website for upcoming information.

And that’s a wrap on August! May your backpacks be full and your days be as normal can get. As always, check with local bookstores and libraries to see what reading and writing groups and events they have happening there because it’s always possible I missed something! And if you have an upcoming event or piece of news you’d like to be featured, email me at taffetachimewrites@gmail.com. Thanks!
