We're looking for RAA's first Executive Director!

Position Available

The Rutherford Arts Alliance Board seeks a dynamic and experienced leader to serve as Executive Director to advance the mission and agenda of the organization. The position is part-time, with fluctuating hours as determined by the event schedule, averaging 20 hours per week.

Responsibilities

The Executive Director serves as the chief operating officer of the Arts Alliance, working closely with and reporting to the Chair and the RAA Board. The Executive Director administers all programs, operations, and policies in addition to supervising one part-time employee.

The Executive Director will be responsible for

  • Developing and implementing an annual action plan in conjunction with the board and planning bi-weekly board meetings, quarterly member meetings, and community outreach that support that plan.

  • Implementing and supervising current programs that are consistent with RAA's mission and meet the needs of the community, which include quarterly membership meetings, four workshops per year, support of RAA’s Interest Groups, participation in such community events as Jazz Fest, Sip, Shop and Stroll, the Greenway Arts Festival, and the Juneteenth Celebration.

  • Developing an annual budget approved by the board and overseeing the management of fundraisers/grants/donations/dues.

  • Holding board members accountable for consistent involvement in the board, supervising the part-time employee, coordinating work with board committees.

  • Developing effective working relationships within the arts community, Main Street Murfreesboro, Murfreesboro City government, Middle Tennessee State University and increasing participation of Rutherford Arts Alliance members in community arts events.

  • Acting as the chief spokesperson for the Alliance in the community, articulating the value of the arts for improving the quality of life in the community and promoting community support of the arts.

  • Performing other duties as needed to support RAA’s vision, fulfill its mission, and abide by the organization’s values.

  Qualifications

  • Higher education or equivalent training with at least 3 years of business and non-profit experience, preferably in the arts or a related area; prior experience as President or Executive Director is preferred.

  • Knowledge of Rutherford County, TN is a plus

  • Outstanding written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Strong planning, organizational, and analytical skills

  • Able to work in unstructured environment

  • Able to positively motivate and develop staff, board, and volunteers and build consensus

  • Visionary and innovative thinker

  • Able to work collaboratively with all sectors of the community, Board, and staff.

Compensation

$45,000 annually
