The inaugural SoKidLit fest is one for the books!

We were thrilled to have over 150 people, including 100 children, attend the inaugural SoKidLit festival on Saturday, May 14. Students engaged with professional authors who read and signed books, shared their writing experience and techniques, and participated in an onsite bookstore and book signing experience. Students also had the opportunity to participate in a “writer’s studio” and to share their writing with a supportive community audience on a writer’s stage.

As the photos below show, the day was a big success! We’re so grateful to the MTSU College of Education, particularly Dr. Katie Schrodt and Dr. Janna McClain, for hosting us, and to the Friends of Linebaugh Library, the Literacy Association of Tennessee, Ingram Spark, Read To Succeed, and other friends in the community whose generous donations enabled the festival to be free. Each child left with a SoKidLit writing journal, pen, and a free signed book by featured author Irene Latham.
